[A small package arrives in Ky's office - for as much as a plate covered in tin foil can be a "package". Underneath the foil is a batch of chocolate macarons, and on top is a signed note.]

This probably won't make things make sense, but I hope it helps.

I did, yes! It took a little bit of trial and error but I think they came out okay.

I am probably not the best judge given my relative inexperience with it, but it was quite good, I think.

You don't need experience with something to know whether it's good or bad! I wasn't even sure you'd like the flavor, but chocolate seems really popular this time of year so I'm glad it wasn't awful.

Professor Kiske, do you use katana sometimes?

I'm afraid not, such single-edged weapons aren't something I have much familiarity with.

I see! You use European-style swords, right?

That's correct. I generally use what's called a Knightly or an Arming sword in modern parlance.

Which isn't to say I wouldn't be happy to learn from you too, but I understand it would be more about responding to different weapons and styles than strictly improving my own.

I'll let you know if there is someone on staff that fulfills the requirement - and as you said, it is a good idea to counteract different styles, especially if you end up on more missions in this continent.

And it would be good for me to learn more about other kinds of weapons as well.

[ Ky will find a varied selection of jasmine and mint tea in a basket in his office. There is also a carefully wrapped box, which when opened contains an ornate teapot and teacup set.

There is also a note:

"Something to take the edge off your headaches. Doctor's orders."

The note is unsigned, but it's probably obvious who it's from. ]

[ It doesn't take long for him to show up. He wasn't that far from Ky's office, after all.

He knocks, quiet but firm. ]

[He opens the door, letting him in, the air is fragrant with freshly brewed tea]

Good to see you, the tea should be ready.

[ Though his sense of smell isn't the same as it once was, he can still appreciate the scent. It reminds him that while he might not need to relax as much as a living being would, he still receives benefits from it. ]

Making good use of my gift already, I see.

Has your headache lessened at all? [ It's half in jest; he suspects Ky's symptoms would have cleared up quite a bit once the meeting was adjourned. ]

Well, it's a good time as any.

[He starts to pour, their special cups out]

As for the headache, it certainly lessen once the meeting was over... but Lord, the staff we have here.

Honestly, I'm surprised there was only one fight, and it resolved fairly quickly. Everyone acted like adults, more or less.

[Toki has been engaged in attempting to make amends for the past few days; he started as soon as he returned from Soleil. He's talked to several students, and now he's moving on to more undesirable conversations. He reviewed the text messages in regards to his website posting to prepare. Unsure whether to find Ky in his office or the faculty dorms during summer break, he's opted to try the former first. He's accompanied by a personal guard; a tall man named Marcel. He has also obtained an a new accessory, a child leash. Instead of being subtle about it, Toki chose the bright yellow cat.

It's Marcel who knocks politely on Ky's office door.]

[When they knocked, there was the sound of a fairly epic-sounding guitar solo - it stops before the door opens. Ky's eyes looked between the two with clear confusion, and then at the leash with what can only be construed as alarmed bafflement]

Rikugou...? Is there something I can help you with?

[Toki can't really decipher that expression, especially since he expected something more towards disappointment or anger once Ky saw it was Toki who had come to talk to him. It's thrown him off track and he speaks more quickly than he wanted to, and is far less articulate.]

Professor Kiske, I wanted to apologize for the things that I said to you. It was uncalled for to insult you and imply that I understood and knew your intentions. Conceptualizing the academy as a prison was objectively incorrect as well, and my behavior during that entire incident, and well, other times, all the time, was unacceptable and disrespectful...

[He's lost his train of thought and trails off, looking at the floor.]

Ah...

[He needs a moment to take it in, before closing his eyes, slowly shaking his head]

Let's go over it, I admit it's much to take in all once - come in, let me brew some tea.

[Toki steps inside the office. He doesn't refuse tea, though he wants to. Tea holds memories and sensations of little crawling spiders from Gongenzaka's "tea party" back in January, and he's developed a distaste for all teas by association.]

Uhh, where do you want me to start? Was what I said confusing?

It's not that it's confusing. It's simply, there is a lot to unpack.

[He brews a white tea, setting out three cups, one for Marcel too]

I should apologize for losing my patience as well... but before we go further - what are you wearing?

[Marcel nods his thanks, but is otherwise staying out of the conversation for the time being. Toki sighs at the term "unpack"; this is going to be long, apparently. But that's fine. He's here to try and make future interactions less awkward.]

Your apology wasn't needed; it's my... mistake? And uhh, it's- it's a leash...

[He makes a dismissive gesture like this is perfectly normal and doesn't need addressing.]

I - I know this isn't the important question here, but is a leash... standard for treatment?

[Then he sets his cup down]

Well, I admit I should have been more patient, our experiences are quite different, as would our responses to different pressures, that is something I should be more aware of - I will say the... reason I didn't respond towards the end is.

[He held his hand up sheepishly]

I have a tendency to short-circuit things when I'm upset, and I didn't want Gehring to get after me for breaking yet another phone. I won't lie, it did hurt to hear those kind of words.

[Oh shit. That's awkward. He's going to try and be articulate and matter-of-fact here.]

Uhh, no. It's not. I have agreed to this, however, because I recognize that I have impulse control problems that don't pair well with my abilities. I'm a flight risk, and I've attacked people without warning, the BBC reporters for one, and I don't want that to happen again. Not that it will, but precautions are necessary until I can trust myself not to engage in that type of behavior.

[Right. He'd forgotten Ky's powers. That makes sense.]

I made assumptions you stopped responding for other reasons. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you and I was neglecting to see things from your perspective at that time. I was preoccupied with my own feelings, which is not an excuse, but a clarification.

[He thinks it only polite to at least try the tea.]

[He listens, it did seem extreme to him - but if Toki believes that's what he needed, he was not going to argue, not that he knows anything more about appropriate treatment beyond some summaries and trying to parse wikipedia articles.

Well it can be hard to see from other views when one is upset and dealing with so much, but it can't be all-consuming... but it seems like you're working on that. To be honest? I didn't expect to hear anything from you, and... I am well, 'glad' isn't the best word for it, I do appreciate that you did come to apologize.

[Toki may be under the impression that his mere existence is a problem and he should be overly-cautious with everything to mitigate that.

The tea isn't completely disgusting, but it's barely palatable for him and has a lingering weird aftertaste. He sets the cup back down. He's tried it, it's gross; he's done.]

Thank you for listening to me, and for acknowledging my efforts to change the way I interpret and react to things. I will continue to diligently examine my thought processes and endeavor to decrease the number of aberrant displays.

[So after Snow's given Keith his instructions to go talk to Ky about mandatory training, he'll be heading over to Ky's office. There'll be a knock on the door and then he waits patiently for a response.]

[The music coming from inside stops then the door opens, Ky looks over before stepping aside]

Come in. I've been told about your assignment, would you like a drink?
