CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Ky Kiske
Character Canon: Guilty Gear

History: http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Ky_Kiske#Story

AU History: Ky’s parents were residents of Union City, and are part of a side-branch of the Crownguard family. Unfortunately for him, his mother died of illness while he was young, and a year later - his father (a ranger) was killed in a landslide up in the mountains. Soon after, he was adopted by his Aunt and Uncle, though he kept his original surname.

Like the Crownguards, and everyone else, he grew up on the stories of the savior and wanted to become a knightly hero like the Savior and threw everything into his lessons. He turned out to be quite talented with matters of battle and became a Sword of the Savior, though he is surprised and disappointed that Luxanna could not join him in the organization, having grown up to admire her capabilities.

Canon Personality: Ky Kiske is a very intelligent, charismatic, and emotionally conflicted man.

To him the most important thing for a person to be is Just in actions and words, he tries very hard to do as he say and say as he do, but he acknowledges and is frustrated that sometimes he can’t do that. This also means that he detests hypocrites well above the usual laundry list of people with despicable character traits such as liars, thieves, bullies, and creeps. He ultimately wants to do what’s right, no matter the cost to himself.

This sense of justice also currently drives his main conflict with others. Ky unfortunately has a rather black/white view of the world. It’s a measure of how pious he is, and frankly how naïve he is that he still has a simple view of morality at his age. However, this aspect will improve with time and exposure to all kinds of people. Ky however doesn’t see himself as perfect unlike most people with this mindset. In fact, he is pretty harsh on himself.

Even if his sense of Justice will be shaken, there are some fundamentals that he still has unshakable faith in: His devotion to his religion, the belief that everyone should be equal in the eyes of the law, and one should help as many people as they can. He’s a devout Catholic, pious without being self-righteous. Ky simply tries his best to live according to his faith and will not force his beliefs on others.

He wears his heart on his sleeve and finds it immensely difficult to conceal his opinions on people and actions, everyone he likes knows it and those he despise can see it in a single glance at his face – however, even when he shows displeasure and contempt for a person, he still has a measure of politeness in his speech even when he’s calling them a bastard.

Ky, when he’s not pondering on the big, meaningful questions is quite friendly for the most part (Unless a bad impression was made). He’s extremely helpful, willing to assist anyone who asks for aid, and has a strong chivalric streak – including holding back against female opponents. Once a bad impression is made, Ky will remain suspicious of that person until they prove themselves. Though friendly as he is, he doesn’t make friends easily, as he’s been orphaned at a young age and spent most of his life in a military setting, he gotten very little experience in social interactions and comes off as distant and tends to miss obvious cues.

Most notably, he is quite oblivious to subtle attempts of people hitting on him, though if more overt advances are made, he starts stuttering and lose his train of thought.

He’s very polite, and inquisitive, willing to engage in quite a variety of topics ranging from the different styles of teacups to more serious topics such as religion and politics, and has a slight philosophical bent. In such conversations, Ky will hold fast to his opinions and remain calm except under very specific circumstances (read: Attack his mentor, question his integrity, or espousing completely vile ideas). When he does lose his cool, he reveals a hot-blooded, passionate side that drives him.

The young man has the makings of a good leader – putting others before himself, and is quite capable of staying calm under most circumstances, able to make snap decisions under pressure. He only really loses his temper when it comes with dealing with a sworn enemy, his beliefs being attacked, and if he is witnessing acts of sheer cruelty - ESPECIALLY if he is seeing other people doing nothing about it.

And due to that magic is a limitless, clean energy in his world, and “Black tech” has wreak havoc upon the world – Ky is very distrustful of high technology and would avoid using them.

AU Deviation: While he was still orphaned like his canon counterpart, he still ended up in a more stable home life then an army camp, so he is more socially aware – being far more approachable as a person, to the point that he can tell if someone is hitting on him (doesn't mean he reacts any more gracefully then he does in canon).

And considering the kind of society Union is, and his expose to Luxanna, and other capable trainers, his sense of Chivalry is somewhat toned down, more keenly aware of everyone's fighting capability and not holding back against them because of their gender, though he still behaves in an old-fashioned manner outside of battle.

As a Sword of the Savior, he is much more reluctant to use lethal force then his canon counterpart, and will even go as far as to stop anyone else from killing, and in fact believe there's no situation where it's justified.

Canon Abilities: Ky can generate and manipulate lightning magic, it’s stated that both lightning magic is extremely rare and very difficult to control in the setting.

The Thunderseal (or Fuuraiken) sword can effectively channel and store excessive voltage for later use, giving him reserves for when he needs to pack an extra punch to his attack.

He’s also shown to be a masterful military tactician and inspiring leader, as that in the Red Side timeline, it’s explicitly stated that humanity would had lost the crusades if he perished during the war. And as a fighting came character… he’s good at combat.

Enlightened Abilities: Typing: Electric/Fighting with a Mastery of Training – using discipline and kind encouragement to get the best out of his pokemon.

At the start, he mostly has the ability to reduce the effect of electric-type attacks on himself, becoming resistant to paraylzation.

On his first evolution he'll gain a weak ability to create a small ball of electricity at his opponents that is designed primarily to stun them.

On his second, the ball becomes much stronger, and he will gain an electric strike that will hit multiple opponents at once.

To mimic his canon powers somewhat, he will eventually acquire a sword that will enhance his electric-type abilities.

Starter Pokémon: Mareep

Notes/Special Considerations: N/A

SAMPLES

[Ky stares at the mud-drenched mareep peering up at him mournfully, then at the muddy tracks it left throughout the house and let out a soft, almost tired sigh and calls over one of the estate’s maids with a mop]

How did you even get this… nevermind. Come on, Isaac, let’s get this cleaned up before everyone comes back – starting with you.

[The man rolled up his sleeves, and picked up the small sheep, holding it at arm’s length, walking briskly to get it into the tub before it’s wool starts to numb his fingers, as Ky fetches water – Isaac let out a protesting baa]

Ssh… I know, but it’s too cold to clip you, so I’ll try to wash it off. Now hold still and we can wash the worse off – please don’t try to shock anyone.

[Several minutes passed of buckets being poured over the mareep, mud coming off, until its wool is only a faint, milk chocolate-y color. The pokemon is shivering, but to it’s or Ky’s credit, it didn’t try to run.]

Hmm…

[While electricity doesn’t affect him as badly as it does others to the household, he is still not in favor of getting zapped. Ky considered his options as a soaking wet, and still slightly muddy sheep will make an even bigger mess. He yanks down a towel and laid it out]

Okay, just roll on this until you start to feel dry. Sorry Isaac, but looks like I’ll have to think of something to get the brown out of your wool later.

[Isaac did as instructed – and Ky wipes his forehead to push bangs out of his eyes – only to realize he just rubbed mud all over it]

[Face meets palm – and more mud, causing the mareep to start laughing]

Third-Person:
-What would you say the role of Pokémon is in your life? They are my comrades and friends.

-What do you seek for humanity’s future? Peace and Hope, a place that allows for everyone to smile freely – that is what should be the goal for humanity’s future.

-To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness? Any. There is no excuse in leaving your allies behind, period.

-What would you say the most important occupation is within Union? I had to think about this, and I can’t say if one role is more important than any other – they all help to keep Union safe or help improve the lives of the people.

-What does the story of the Savior mean to you?
It’s a story of hope, mercy, and humility. No matter how hopeless a situation is, by never giving up, and being willing to do all one can overcome all odds.

-What aspects and traits do you respect most in your individual fellow man?
Justice. I respect a person that can be fair, and refuse things that are evil and protect that is good.

-What do you look for in the Pokémon with whom you bond?
I look for Pokemon that are intelligent and loyal.

-What do you think your Pokémon respect most about you?
I believe they respect me for my fair-handedness and ability to strategize.

-The gods of old have returned. How would you be judged if you were chosen as a representative of humanity?
I dare not make any presumptions about how I will be judged, but I do hope that I would be considered a worthy representative of what is good in humanity.

-A human has attacked a wild Pokémon who retaliates in defense. How do you respond and whom do you defend?
I would break up the fight to the best of my ability, and with the only what information you had given me, I would defend the pokemon.

-You are alone and bereft of your Pokémon allies, upon what strengths do you rely on to see yourself safely home?
I rely on my training and perseverance to get me back to home.

-What would you say is your greatest duty, and why?
My duty is to protect the people of the Union, for it is the right thing to do, and the best way I can serve people.

-You plunge into the depths of the Old City. What is it that you seek from the past? Treasure, technology, wisdom? Technology is what caused the disaster, and Treasure is fleeting and of limited value – Wisdom is something that can be shared and will immediately improve the lives of everyone in Union.

-When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why? It’s hard to say – it would depend strongly on the situation, though I would consider defeating it as a last resort.

-What do you do to ensure we never again awaken the wrath of the gods upon humanity? Live a just life, respect the lives of both humans and pokemon, and learn from the errors of our ancestors.

-What strengths make you most qualified for your role within Union?
As a savior, I am observant, dedicated, strong of arm and I seek to be as just as possible.

-In your eyes, what is absolutely unforgivable? Cruelty and abuse – there is no excuse to harm another without just cause, and those that enjoy such acts should not be allowed to live within the city.

-No Enlightened chooses their abilities - and not all are Enlightened. What type abilities would you most desire to manifest and why?
Well… I admit I like to know what pokemon are thinking, I am kind of curious about that.

-What area do you seek to explore? The peaceful forest, in search of new, previously overlooked discoveries; the uncharted caves, in search of the unknown; or the wildest of mountain terrain, in search of danger, adventure, and thrills?
While the forest sounds pleasant, I believe it’s better to explore the unknown, to find lost answers and understand our world better.
